Iowans generous, take care of their own
The Gazette Opinion Staff
Aug. 29, 2009 12:47 am
In response to health care bill, H.R.3200, cap and trade energy bill and other bills on the agenda:
1. The United States is bankrupt.
2. We are now a “sub-prime” country with principal monthly interest of more than $26 billion on outstanding fiscally irresponsible national debt.
3. Major foreign holder of U.S. Treasury Securities, China, calls our indebtedness risky. Does that seem responsible? China is increasing its gold reserve, creating a large underground reserve of oil, and buying and stockpiling soybeans.
4. Our Federal Reserve is purchasing U.S. Treasury notes. What is the strategy here?
5. We need some very wise counsel.
These bills smell like the Cedar River smelled after the flood of 2008, full of the garbage of others and ripe for fraud.
Iowans are better than this. We take care of our own, we give to local organizations, we help those who are in true need. Iowans are generous, and we rise up to the causes of our country. We do not need more government intervention.
No, we won't support and endorse bills that take away our personal liberties. Our Constitution promises life, liberty and the pursuit (not the promise) of happiness.
