Iowans are not so heartless

Regarding 'Branstad misleads with call to secure border” (Saturday, July 19): Great article.
I have lived in Iowa for over 40 years. My father is Spanish and Native American and my mother is Native American (Apache).
I was a little set back hearing those comments from our governor referring to these children in conflict. Was our governor trying to say what was popular knowing he was being televised nationally? We have enough ridiculous comments without adding our own governor to the profile.
Stop pushing Iowa into national ignorance. This issue isn't about border security, it's about government doing its job and addressing the immigration issue. To use children as an excuse for not doing so is shameful.
Iowans are not heartless.
