Iowa uses paper ballots for elections

I am responding to a recent community letter from Marilyn Schroeder of Bellevue, related to elections and using paper ballots. When told of this letter, I thought I should respond since Marilyn is from Jackson County.
I am a newly elected auditor, in 2016, so I made some calls to my fellow auditors to see how long Iowa has been using paper ballots. It appears in 2008, Iowa switched to using paper ballots in elections as part of our secure elections process. I called Marilyn to inform her and she was pleased to hear Iowa uses paper ballots. I want to reinforce the point that it is the mission of every auditor's office to maintain the highest level of protocols for each election.
