Iowa should have end-of-life provision

I agree with Rick Fromm's Feb. 6 guest column stating “the terminally or irreversibly ill should have the right to end their own lives.” Oregon, Montana and Hawaii already have such provisions, and progressive Iowa should similarly provide for it.
There are legal options for a physician to take aggressive, but legal, steps in end-of-life care, and I hope that Fromm's article raises the issue and encourages physicians, according to the wishes of the patient, to help the patient.
This is one of the most personal decisions a person can face, and certainly the last one. Each individual should be able to face it in his own way.
