Iowa has become the state of hate

The Gazette offers audio versions of articles using Instaread. Some words may be mispronounced.
Remember, when the state of Iowa elected Obama to be president? I do. Remember when the state of Iowa legalized gay marriage? I do. Remember the chicken little scenario that was put forth by all right wing politicians in the state and others? I do and remember how many of those scenarios came true? I do, zero.
Iowa used to be such a beautiful welcoming state. You could be so proud to be from Iowa now, the only thing I’m really proud of now is Caitlin Clark when it comes to Iowa anyway.
Iowa has become the state of hate. To the Republican politicians pushing every bill imaginable that essentially goes against anything LGBTQ, we get it. You’re scared and you’re not willing to look beyond that.
I bet you pretty much every single person who speaks out against the LGBTQ community also claims to be religious but they ignore the fact Jesus would’ve hung out at pride parades. Heck, he would’ve been grand marshal.
Diversity hurts no one. Hate hurts everyone. Iowa, again, has become a state of hate and it’s such a shame.
