Iowa doesn’t need private CPAs to do state audits

Iowa lawmakers are considering a bill to potentially bypass the state auditor's office by allowing state agencies to use a private CPA firm to audit their affairs. No reasonable person would want their tax dollars to be misappropriated nor would they want a valuable statewide department to fall into disuse simply because it was politically expedient to avoid the watchful eyes of a dedicated auditors paid for by Iowans to expose fraud and abuse of power. Rob Sand and his department do a great job. Let your legislators know that you think it is best to leave well enough alone.
