Iowa congressmen helped pass health bill
The Gazette Opinion Staff
Nov. 13, 2009 11:07 pm
The U.S. House recently passed what the Wall Street Journal termed “the worst bill ever,” the health care reform bill. Three representatives from Iowa voted “aye.”
Depending on what constitutes a “simple majority,” three or four congressmen voting “no” instead of “aye” would have resulted in the bill not passing. Let's say the number is three.
Logically, then, Iowa's three “aye” voters are 100 percent responsible for the passage of this bill. Your congressman is himself 33 1/3 percent responsible. What power a single vote has!
Did you want him to vote for this bill, which will increase the size of government, increase our taxes, and reduce our freedoms?
If so, please thank him for representing your desires in the U.S. Congress.
If not, please let him know without ceasing that he is your representative and needs to begin voting your interests.
And let him know that if he doesn't change, next year you will be voting for a new employee who will vote in concert with your desires.
