Iowa City dog parks offer many benefits

We have wonderful off-leash dog parks in this town. Thornberry, an 11-acre park on the north side of town, and Rita's Ranch, a six-acre park on the south end of town. Both parks have shelters, benches, trees, water and other amenities provided by the City of Iowa City with input from the Johnson County Dog Park Board (JCdogPAC). Get a day or yearly pass.
It is so wonderful to see a dog run, full on, with other dogs in a beautiful and safe setting. The dog parks were developed with dog freedom and safety in mind, but are for people to enjoy, too. At this time of year there is nothing better than taking a leisurely stroll along a dog park path with your best friend. I urge those with dogs to take advantage of and to experience both parks - Iowa City's gift to you both.
