Iowa aviators’ stories resonate in Florida

I thoroughly enjoyed reading David Wendel’s Sunday guest column, "Into the wild blue yonder." I am a retired naval aviator originally from Monticello and currently residing in Florida. Being a volunteer at the National Naval Aviation Museum, I get to talk to a lot of Iowa snowbirds. The suspended and rotating Curtis Triad is the first exhibit you see when entering the museum and the story of Ely's 1910-1911 exploits impresses the Iowa visitors.
Thanks for sharing Iowa's link with naval aviation.
