Insurance companies have too much power

If you want affordable housing, somebody must start overseeing the insurance industry. Congress needs to stop the power of all insurance companies and all types of insurance.
I hoped after the execution of the UnitedHealth Care CEO in New York City that some attention to the empowerment of insurance would be reviewed, but no.
So the killer was not and apparently had never been covered by UHC. That isn’t necessarily why he chose to assassinate that company’s CEO but rather to draw attention to the power all insurance companies hold in America. The same with property insurance. The insurance companies hold the ticket to how much insurance you have on your property.
Until there is an investigation into fair practices by those companies there will continue to be more homeless. Right now I pay three times more toward insurance and taxes than I do principal and interest.
Of course, I’ve been told this is due to requirements put forth by the government. If that is really the problem, we all need to write to our congressmen and get this changed.
We are required to cover our property at replacement cost at today’s prices. Rental property owners have to pass that on to their renters. There will be shortfalls. People simply cannot let insurance make so many decisions that can have so much influence over our lives.
