Independence needs new school building

I voted early for the Independence junior/senior high school building bond issue. To help alleviate the tax impact, I pledged financial support to the project. I am visiting with residents, asking them to pledge to the campaign. Many people will donate in-kind work to the school. My belief in shared responsibility is held by bond supporters throughout our district.
A “yes” vote is not a blank check to spend $12.48 million. The school district and architect will specify the cost-effective building that our children need. Bids under budget will be great. The superintendent's exploratory committee verified that the planned building meets the district's needs.
I also am running for school board. The district needs the new junior/senior high school and leadership that will deliver the project to the residents' expectations.
