If you break the law, you deserve a ticket

To the father of the young lady who paid her ticket that she received in Cedar Rapids and told her not to support our businesses any longer (“I-380 speeding tickets hurting C.R. merchants,” Jan. 5):
Shame on you. Shouldn't you have reprimanded her instead for getting the ticket in the first place? There have been several letters from people saying they won't shop in Cedar Rapids any longer because they got caught speeding by a red light camera. I say good riddance!
The police have said several times that they are not issuing tickets unless you're caught going at least 11 miles over the speed limit. This town doesn't need people to come here and cause accidents and possibly kill one or more of our residents just because you or others think you should be allowed to break the law. Obey the laws or you deserve the tickets you get.
