I-380 in Cedar Rapids in need of beautification

I live along Interstate 380 in Cedar Rapids. On occasion I drive on Highway 100 and see that there were many beautiful trees planted this Spring, which is so great to see. However, the trees along I-380 are dead, dying or broken. Fences are also broken. Many junk trees and weeds have grown along the fences.
In short, it’s an eyesore and a shame that the many people who travel this very important part of the Avenue of the Saints have this visual of our beautiful city. The derecho was definitely a driving factor in the way it looks, but can’t be blamed for all of it. It needed to be rejuvenated long before that. Something needs to happen, and happen soon to improve the looks of I-380 through Cedar Rapids. Let’s make it happen.
