How about letting us save one building?

I am a lifelong citizen of Cedar Rapids and feel strongly about the impending demolition of a treasured historic building in our city.
I am guilty of not realizing that St. Luke's Hospital (which owns the property) had set a deadline for individuals or other entities to step up with an offer to purchase. Now that I know we might still have time to save First Christian Church from the demolition ball, I urge everyone to contribute to a fund that has been established.
This building's design was influenced by the great architect Louis Sullivan. The stained glass windows were executed by Louis Millet, who studied under the famed Tiffany.
As we drive down Third Avenue, we can look at either this gorgeous building for years to come or parking spaces St. Luke's Hospital and Physicians' Clinic of Iowa want for a new medical clinic. How about making their four-story parking ramp five stories?
We already have closed two blocks of Second Avenue and destroyed too many historic buildings for this medical edifice. How about letting us hang onto this one?
