Honor Flight was an awesome experience

I was privileged to fly free on Oct. 18 with the World War II group on an Honor Flight. The preparation, preflight meeting, trip and staying on schedule with 90 of us old vets was an amazing accomplishment and done by volunteers!
I especially wish to thank Myron and Esther Wilson from Cedar Rapids for their sponsorship of the flight, Mary Clapp for coordinating, the Cedar Rapids Corvette Club for the plaque, Hy-Vee for the fanny pack with camera and free developing, the people who paid to come as our guardians, all the hundreds of people welcoming us as we returned, Dave Loebsack for the congressional recognition letter, and my Oaknoll administration friends who gave up their conference time to meet with George Dane and me.
There were many Honor Flight volunteers in Iowa and in Washington, D.C. The organization was truly perfect. What an awesome day we had!
