Homeowners deserve tax break, too

I get it when the city gives businesses tax breaks to build or open a new business in Cedar Rapids, such as CRST. It helps the city with growth and in some cases more jobs. That is good.
But, when the city gives these incentives, where does the tax revenue come from for the next 10 or 20 years of breaks in tax relief? You guessed it. The old property tax increase.
When are we, the property owners, going to get our tax relief? Every year for the past 20 years at this residence, our taxes have increased. Even when we protested the huge tax increase and won, our taxes still went up.
Enough is enough already. How does the city expect homeowners, especially those on a fixed income, to keep paying more and more property taxes when we get no increase in our pensions and Social Security?
I would suggest the city and county councils figure this one out before the next elections. You can lose your jobs, too.
