Hogg isn't stealing the spotlight

In response to The Gazette editorial, “Don't steal spotlight,” on Oct. 14: I participated in Sen. Rob Hogg's “Keep it going walk” on Oct. 10. I must agree with him that what Gov. Terry Branstad says and what he does are two different things.
It's easy to say, “Let's make Iowa the healthiest state in the nation,” as the governor has proposed. But I wonder how many Iowans are aware that Branstad supported severe funding cuts to tobacco cessation and substance abuse treatment programs? There are other examples, but these two programs alone have a direct impact on the health of Iowans.
Hogg isn't stealing the spotlight, he's shining it where it belongs, on Branstad's double talk.
