Historic mill in Independence needs your help

I want to bring attention to the Wapsipinicon Mill in Independence.
This massive six-story building is an architectural marvel. People worldwide have visited the mill and have been amazed by its architectural details, massive size, incredible workmanship and materials involved in its construction. The mill can never be replaced.
The current state of the roof has placed the mill in immediate danger. The roof has deteriorated, creating baseball-size holes. Water is running into the first floor. Many displays and irreplaceable artifacts are being destroyed by rain water. We are nothing without history. History defines who we are and helps shape our future. We cannot let this building, and the history it holds, be lost. Once it's gone, it's gone.
We are thankful for those who have donated to the roof fund. Many volunteers have worked countless hours fundraising and writing grants. Much work has been done to preserve this jewel, but we have not met our funding goal. Please consider donating to the mill roof fund. Donations can be mailed to Buchanan County Historical Society, P.O. Box 321, Independence, IA 50644. More information at www.buchanancountyhistory.com.
