His Hands’ shoe drive was no small ‘feet’

I am writing to express my heartfelt gratitude to the citizens of the greater Cedar Rapids area and our corporate sponsors for their overwhelming support and generosity during our recent shoe drive. Although we did not surpass the world record of 250,000 pairs of shoes, set by an organization in Manila, Philippines, a city of 1.78 million, we collected an unforgettable 24,137 pairs of shoes, which is no small “feet.”
This is a remarkable accomplishment, especially compared to 19,525 pairs of shoes collected during another Funds2Org shoe campaign in Phoenix, Arizona last July; a city 12 times larger than our own.
We could not have achieved this work without our corporate partners such as Can Shed, Transamerica, FedEx, Get Organized, and Tradehome Shoes. I also want to extend thanks to the wonderful individuals and organizations from cities such as Davenport, Hopkinton and Iowa City who not only contributed shoes, but mileage and windshield time as well.
In closing, we are incredibly proud of our community, which rallies together to support one another. Cedar Rapids has once again demonstrated its unwavering kindness and generosity. We are humbled to have witnessed such a remarkable display of solidarity.
Again, thank you to all who contributed to our shoe drive. We not only made an impact in our community but around the world.
