Hinson is not on your side

Like most Iowans, we vote for the person we trust to represent us in the House of Representatives and pass legislation that helps solve problems and improves our lives. However, Ashley Hinson, our current U.S. Representative who is seeking re-election, has forgotten about Iowans in her district. Instead, her votes serve the MAGA extremist party, her donors, corporations, and the ultrawealthy.
What is Hinson's focus to help us Iowans? Renewing the 2017 Trump tax cuts, which benefited corporations and the top 1% and added $2.5 trillion to the national debt. We call this law a scam because the benefits from the tax cuts were supposed to trickle down from the wealthiest to everyday folks like us. That didn’t happen.
In contrast, the Biden-Harris Administration has been committed to serving everyday Iowans. Thanks to them, my rural county now has high-speed internet, a major highway has been paved, and a major bridge crossing the Mississippi is under construction. These improvements help all of us and our communities.
Rep. Ashley Hinson voted against funding for infrastructure. In a recent telephone town hall, Hinson referred to these investments as "wasteful spending." Safe roads, bridges, and affordable internet might seem wasteful to Hinson, but to rural Iowans where I live, these are vital improvements.
On Nov. 5, 2024, we have the power to elect a representative who will truly be our voice and who is committed to representing everyday Iowans. That person is Sarah Corkery.
