Ashley Hinson voted against the ARPA bill which sent $4.45 billion to Iowa to help with pandemic related problems. Cedar Rapids and Linn County received $44 million and used it to help with a variety of problems including housing, nonprofits and flood protection. Ten million was devoted to west side flood protection thanks to our City Council. This is five years ahead of the original schedule. Ashley Hinson voted against this bill. She said it did not have anything to do with the pandemic.
Hinson also voted against the infrastructure bill which will help replace aging bridges in Iowa. Iowa leads the nation for the most structurally deficient bridges with nearly 4,600 of them scattered across the state. The infrastructure bill also will help repair some of our aging lock and dams on the Mississippi River. Ashley comes to Eastern Iowa and pretends to have supported these bills when she actually voted against them. She came to a lock and dam on the Mississippi to tout the project and then she came to Cedar Rapids to visit the flood protection system.
She voted against the Inflation Reduction Act which also attacks climate change. Climate change is what has caused all of our disasters, the 2008 and 2016 floods and the 2020 derecho. Ashley consistently puts the MAGA cult agenda ahead of Cedar Rapids citizens. Ashley Hinson is not for Cedar Rapids or Eastern Iowa. Vote for Liz Mathis!
