To the editor:
Putting a well-qualified woman in the White House would be the greatest revolution in America since the passage of the 15th Amendment. Getting the best person to the White House requires government by informed people. 'Hope and Change” is great, but what is behind a slogan? Does the candidate have achievable goals? One can use common sense to weigh facts and inform decision-making.
While far from perfect, the Affordable Care Act was a financial lifesaver for many of my patients who lost their insurance because they could no longer work due to cancer. Why couldn't Bernie Sanders get the Medicare option through Congress? How would his being president lead to a different outcome?
Banks that are too big to fail need to be broken up. Sanders says bankers would not like having him in the White House, but they would do what he wants. How is he going to make them do that? What did he do while in Congress to get legislation to break up the banks?
If citizens are fed up and want a revolution for a great America, consider Hillary Clinton. All her career she has stood up for children, families and health care. She has the requisite skills, toughness and respect of world leaders. She has demonstrated working across the aisle to seek bipartisan solutions. Look at her website to see her detailed plans for how she would tackle issues as president.
