Heavens is best choice for state treasurer
The Gazette Opinion Staff

I encourage voters to turn out on primary election day, June 8, and vote for Jim Heavens for state treasurer in the Republican primary.
Voters have a unique opportunity in Jim to nominate a person with strong success in the private sector and proven leadership skills in public service for higher office.
Jim works in the agribusiness industry and knows what it takes to grow our economy and put people to work.
He also serves as mayor of Dyersville, and on his watch, the tax rate has gone down, new homes have been built, and new industry and jobs have come to town.
Jim is a dedicated public servant and family man. He understands that taxpayers' money needs to be used wisely. That is why he is running for state treasurer.
Jim opposes the borrowing of billions of dollars, putting our state into a high level of debt. He has worked to keep city spending open and accessible to the public on the local government level and will push for more openness at the state level.
Jim Heavens is a leader from Main Street, Iowa.
Rep. Steven F. Lukan
