Health care reform will lead to destruction
The Gazette Opinion Staff

Our country is headed down a dark road to a lower quality of life and greater loss of freedom. Yet, our government leaders do not seem to see the impending destruction they are causing. All they seem to be interested in is gaining power to do what they want to do - whether or not it's what's best for the people.
Here's what I think will happen because of the Democrats' health care reform:
l According to the Washington Times, “the government takeover of health care will raise costs and cause a large number of people to lose their health insurance.”
l A large number of primary health care providers are expected to leave the medical field; fewer providers will mean rationing of health care.
l Can we believe the estimates for the cost of the program, and, can we afford the salaries and benefits for more government bureaucrats?
l Senior citizens will not be able to pay for the health care they need.
l Our increasing national debt will lead to super inflation, e.g., $10 per gallon gasoline, food shortages and a devalued dollar. And, nobody talks about the cost servicing the debt.
l Taxes and unemployment will greatly increase.
l More government control over people's lives that has nothing to do with health care.
Can we really afford to make this kind of “transformation” of our nation?
