Health care bill expands resources for students
The Gazette Opinion Staff

Folded into the health care reform bill is expansion of the college student loan program and Pell grants. The reform bill also extends coverage of dependent children who are covered under parental insurance through age 26. It raises income eligibility for those on Medicaid - and thus for those age 18 and over who are independent adults.
The above changes will have great impact for the future of this country, by providing the ability for lower-income students, who also have pre-existing health conditions, to be able to attend college. The combination of these provisions will expand resources for both individuals and the country in this ever-competing global economy.
