Hayek will strengthen Iowa City’s future

As a parent of young children, an entrepreneur and a concerned citizen of Iowa City, I fully support the re-election of candidate Matt Hayek to the Iowa City Council.
After living out of state for six years, my husband and I chose to return to Iowa City because of the growth and diversity of the area.
It goes without saying that our country is struggling to rapidly adjust to a slowing economy. Many of these issues hit close to home.
Now is the time to get back to the basic issues. We need to continue to strengthen our local economy by retaining and protecting successful businesses, while providing attractive opportunities for new ones. We need to prioritize problems that are immediate concerns and put to rest those that provide little more than comedic fodder.
Iowa City is a complex community, with growing social issues. It seems logical to trust experienced leaders to maintain balance, while fostering sensible economic growth within our city limits. Hayek has shown, through years of dedicated leadership, that he is passionate about encouraging healthy, sustainable growth. This is good for Iowa City, the University of Iowa, and nearby communities.
