Hawks do state, institution proud
The Gazette Opinion Staff

Gazette sports writers: You want to cover programs that win more games? Go to Miami where they cheat like crazy. Go to USC where they seem to have been on probation forever. For cheating. Go to Auburn where they appeared to have purchased the best available quarterback at the time, Cam Newton.
Try Ohio State where they got a bunch of guys suspended for five games apiece. For cheating. Don't even get me started on the end of Penn State greatness and probably the best coach ever.
Earlier this year, I looked at 10 teams that always seemed to be at or near the top of the game. Six of the 10 were on some sort of probation for cheating or under investigation for the same in the recent past. Should Iowa cheat more?
And your ridiculous grades, Iowa vs. Nebraska, after the game. The O-line gave Vandy plenty of time for the most part in the passing game, could have done better on blocking the rush. The defense looked to be playing their hearts out and overall did really well given what they had to work with. Special teams made a number of really good plays on punts and kickoffs. The so-called skilled positions had a bad game collectively.
Sometimes stuff happens. You learn from it and go on.
Thanks for playing your hearts out Hawks, regardless of the outcome. You do the state and the institution proud.
