Hatch requesting too many debates

I take interest in the July 11 Gazette article 'Hatch pushes for more debates, Branstad resists.”
I understand that Branstad has agreed to three debates: Des Moines, Burlington and Sioux City.
And I read that Hatch wants six more. Why?
I, as a simple Iowa small-town boy, can listen to these debates if I want, but why must I be subject to all of this politicking when I can be watching some vulgar opera on TV?
I am sure that the debates will occur during prime-time television programming. I will just bet my wooden nickel that these additional debates will cancel out some program I want to watch.
If Hatch cannot make his bid in three, how in this corn state can he expect to do so with six more?
Oh, he will get more free exposure at the expense of a paid television advertisement and I can understand that. I know on which side my bread is buttered.
