Gunmen violated Constitution

To the editor:
Recently, there was a shooting at the Coral Ridge Mall in Coralville and a shooting in a church in Charleston, S.C. One innocent individual lost her life in the mall shooting and nine innocent individuals lost their lives in the church shooting.
The accused gunmen in both shootings claimed to be Constitution-loving Americans and both cherished the 2nd Amendment. The 2nd Amendment does not give a person the right to use a firearm to incite an attack.
The gunman who entered the mall and killed a young innocent woman violated the Fourth, Fifth, Ninth, Thirteenth, Fourteenth and Fifteen amendments to the Constitution.
The gunman who entered the church and killed nine innocent individuals violated the same amendments and also violated the First Amendment to the Constitution as those individuals were gunned down while exercising their First Amendment rights. The gunman also violated the First Amendment rights to the survivors who were at the church at the time of the shooting.
Both gunmen involved in the fatal shootings deserve nothing but disrespect and they both need to be vigorously prosecuted for what they did.
