To the editor:
The May 23 guest column by Neal Baty 'Don't waste valuable agricultural land” complained that the proposed Prospect Meadows baseball field development was a waste of valuable agricultural land that could be best used for crops to feed the world.
Possibly his concern over the misplaced use of this 121 acres might be expanded to the 40 percent of the Iowa corn acreage being used for fuel in the form of ethanol - amounting to over 5 million acres.
Is he perhaps swatting the gnat of Prospect Meadows while ignoring the charging elephant of mandated ethanol use?
