Group silent on negative costs

Most of the no casino letters have been sincere, thoughtful and factual, addressing the moral and economic downsides of casinos. The yes letters mainly address two themes: Predicted economic benefits of a Cedar Rapids casino and criticism of nearby casinos that are providing needed financial support to the no campaign.
The owners of these casinos are acting, as most of the business owners in the casino investment group would act in like circumstances, to protect their own business interests. The yes supporters have not addressed the negative costs of casinos.
This is not an altruistic venture. It is an opportunity for Gray and his group to make immense profits from a low-risk investment in a business that produces great harm and no real value to society.
