Great response to request for veterans

One month ago, the Iowa City American Legion and Auxiliary asked the community to recognize Veterans Day by contributing needed items for the Iowa Veterans Home.
The response has been overwhelming. A truckload of items has been taken to Marshalltown and it was welcomed with gratitude.
You can learn more about the Iowa Veterans Home by going online to http:// ivh.iowa.gov. This Iowa tax-supported program provides housing and services to approximately 720 veterans and their spouses. New programs and housing are being developed to meet the needs of veterans of all ages. Your support is truly appreciated by those who have served our country so honorably.
On behalf of the members of our organizations, we thank you sincerely. We welcome your comments and suggestions about how we can serve our community and veterans in the future.
Gary Haman,
Commander
American Legion Post 17
Mary Littrell,
President
