Grateful for all the holiday kindness

On the evening of Dec. 21, I hobbled to the door without my cane and discovered a group of wonderful carolers singing at the foot of my driveway. While they sang, two lovely children approached my door and handed me a loaf of homemade quick bread and an envelope with a gift card to a local grocery store. The signed card read, “Merry Christmas from the Random Kindness Elves, 2013.” I would like to thank these wonderful strangers for making my 87th Christmas that much merrier.
But that's not the only kindness I have had thrust upon me. Recently, as I was spreading ice melt on my steep, slick driveway, a car pulled in and a lady got out to help me finish. At another time, a lady and her son saw me shoveling a path through the snow to my mailbox. They stopped to help and ended up shoveling my entire driveway.
I do not know the individual names of any of these kind and angelic people. Even still, I wish to show my heartfelt appreciation. While walking with a cane has been an adjustment, I find it miraculous, in that it seems to attract the most graceful of people who are happy to help. I hope that soon I can pay these acts of kindness forward.
