Grassley, protests funded by insurance
The Gazette Opinion Staff

If Shakespeare were around, he would say “He doth protest too much, methinks.” Our illustrious Sen. Chuck Grassley has made his feelings on health care well known. He needs to realize that fearmongering does not work anymore. People have awakened after the eight years we had with Bush & Co.
Secondly, has Grassley received money from the health and insurance companies? He and Max Baucus both sit on the Senate Finance Committee and between the two of them have raised $219,000 from health and insurance political action committees. Grassley has pulled in $165,000 from health and insurance PAC money, according to the finance records filed with the Federal Election Commission.
When Grassley spoke in Winterset voicing his horrid fear of what may come if we have health care reform, there was not one protester screaming while he spoke. It is only when Democrats or supporters of changing health care do we hear the intimidation and see the violence. Lobbyists for the health care industry are sending protesters around the country to attend these town hall meetings. Insurance companies have made record profits this last year, so they are going to do everything in their power to stop any reform.
How do they make their record profits? High premiums and denying claims.
