Grassley doesn’t value the rule of law

Since the FBI search for sensitive, classified documents at Mar-a Lago, Sen. Chuck Grassley has been criticizing the FBI, the Justice Department, and Attorney General Merrick Garland for lack of transparency. When homeland security and a potential criminal investigation are involved, keeping information close seems warranted, but our senior senator has not acknowledged this.
Where was Grassley when the former president refused to release his tax returns? Trump never testified during the Mueller investigation, only partially answering written questions. He refused to allow officials to testify during congressional investigations, pleading executive privilege, suing over subpoenas for his business records. He curtailed press briefings and Pentagon briefings. He hid planning for his Jan. 6 attempt to overthrow the election from his legal counsel and other close advisers who might be opposed. And why is the White House log for Jan. 6 largely blank? The former President took the fifth on every question but his name during his recent “testimony” in New York’s Attorney General’s investigation into his business practices- this from a man who said only the guilty take the fifth. Did Grassley ever criticize the constant cover-ups and diversions of the last administration? No he did not.
I want a senator who values the rule of law and integrity and openness with citizens. Admiral Michael Franken is that person and I hope he replaces Grassley.
