Governor should pardon man who destroyed satanic display

The Satanic Temple of Iowa followed the rules, applied and was approved for a display at the Iowa State Capitol for the Christmas season.

Some said it was freedom of religion, free speech, but it was an attack on our U.S. and Iowa Constitutions.

Founding father and 2nd President John Adams wrote, “Our Constitution was made for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.”

Iowa’s constitution begins, “We the people of the State of Iowa, grateful to the Supreme Being for the blessings hitherto enjoyed …”

I find no reference of Satan’s blessings, being supreme, a part of Christmas or being moral.

Gov. Reynolds said the satanic display was “absolutely objectionable,” called for more speech and prayer over the Capitol.

She and many others met at the Capitol rotunda and prayed.

Hundreds of miles south in Mississippi, Navy veteran Michael Cassidy saw the satanic image on social media and bought a ticket.

He boarded a plane to Iowa, went to the Capitol and destroyed Baphomet.

He has been charged with criminal mischief, faces a fine and prison.

We know God answers prayer.

Gov. Reynolds should do the right thing, pardon Michael Cassidy, reimburse his travel expenses and put a stop to the nonsense.
