Government should work for us

How many people actually believe our government officials work for us? We elect them and see little if any productive work done on our behalf. Shutting down government is not a solution and shouldn't be an option. The three branches of government were created to balance power, and no one branch has more power than the others. The executive branch seems to stretch its power beyond its limits.
Out-of-control governing is not democracy. The American people deserve better and yet can only sit on the sidelines and watch the extreme antics put forth by unreasonable leadership.
Deep in my heart, I still believe in America and her promise of a better life lived here. However, what I see is disheartening and shameful. America can do better. We, the people, deserve more.
