Gov. Branstad a modern day Don Quixote

You'll recall Don Quixote, the whimsical fictitious knight wannabe? Alive and well today here in Iowa as Secretary of State Matt Schultz or Gov. Terry Branstad, he blithely and proudly rides again.

Among our few million voters, Schultz suggests he has uncovered some 30 irregularities - plus or minus - at the mere cost of 8,000 per voter. Also fixing problems that don't exist, our governor sets out with a now-absent education czar from Colorado to repair one of the top public education systems.

Then a secretary of state wants to spend more than $240,000 to weed out when he calls “voter fraud” in little old Iowa. Do we have a Cook County or a dangling chad Florida reputation for “irregularities” in voter fraud?

Heck, the secretary's own party had difficulty reporting nationally the caucus rally recently in choosing a presidential candidate.

Where are these guys coming from and, more frightening, where are they going? But wait, the secretary wants still more money for his quest and the party members on his committee claim he is being maligned, darted and arrowed, the report read.

Yes, Don Quixote rides again, slapping at imaginary windmills.
