I was shocked to read the disrespectful rhetoric coming from Iowa's GOP regarding what is being taught at Iowa's Universities - "garbage like the bachelor of science in social justice or gender studies.“ I’m fully aware of how the GOP feels about anyone who doesn't think like them, but the fact that what they stated was exactly the same horrible, demeaning evil that is coming from the current administration.
Why does the GOP think that they can dictate what students want to learn? What are they afraid of — critical thinking skills? The fact that someone might disagree with them. I thought this was a free country, but I think we are slowly changing into a dictatorship. And Iowa's GOP is right on board. Bending a knee to show allegiance to a man who is seriously mentally ill, a Russian operative and a serial criminal.
Did they forget that they are to represent ALL of their constituents? Even the ones who don't think like them. Our democracy is in serious trouble. The GOP is on a major power trip, and they don't care who it affects. Iowans deserve better. VOTE!
