GOP chairman’s Obama statement inaccurate

Don Racheter, chairman of the platform committee at the Iowa Republican state convention, stated (“Grassley to call for unity at convention,” June 16) that President Barack Obama “does not meet the very special eligibility requirement written into the Constitution in paragraph five of Article II by the Founding Fathers that only pertains to people seeking the presidency.” According to Racheter, “Both your parents must be citizens of the U.S. at the time of your birth.”
This requirement does not exist in Section II. 5 or anywhere else in the Constitution.
I've noticed there are many Republican partisans who claim to love the Constitution and abide by its precepts, and yet who have very little familiarity with it. This is called hypocrisy.
