Good luck getting ash trees replaced

Good luck to citizens having ash trees cut down in their parking area who have the expectation of getting a new tree planted.

In the spring of 2017 an ash tree in my parking area was cut down. After I called repeatedly to have the stump removed, they did so in the fall of 2017. It started to rain and they hurriedly filled the big hole with dirt, but did not level it or put down grass seed. This spring I sent an e-mail and a picture to Forestry Supervisor Michael Callahan, showing the nice crop of weeds growing there. I received no response.

I heard City Arborist Todd Fagan on the radio say after an ash tree is cut down, the property is put on a list to receive a new tree. I must be way down on that list.

Maybe I should do what the city did with sidewalk repairs: Complete unmet repair needs and add the cost to the tax bill. I will hire someone to level the dirt, plant grass seed and a tree and send the city the bill.
