Good conversations make good government

Everyone should read and heed Saturday’s column by Debbie Koopman “They Can Still Talk about Politics with Politeness and Civility.” It was not so long ago when we could do that. What a shame upon our people and politicians that our country has become so divided and opinionated that we can no longer listen to each other.
Of course we will not all agree — and that’s OK. But we can all listen with respect to each other’s opinions and perhaps learn from another’s perspective. Good conversations and exchange of ideas can help us come together as a nation and work together for good government.
