Golf tournament was a success

To the editor:
Xavier High School was proud to be the host school for the 2015 4A Boys State Golf Tournament, held Oct. 9-10 at Elmcrest Country Club.
Eighty golfers from 20 schools participated in the tournament. With coaches, family members and friends supporting these talented golfers, Cedar Rapids enjoyed hundreds of people visiting our city from all areas of Iowa.
Hosting the tournament would not have been possible without Elmcrest Country Club allowing the IHSAA to use their wonderful facilities and golf course for two days. I would like to thank the following people and organizations for their help in making the state tournament a 'first class” event for all golfers, coaches and fans: Larry Gladson (head professional), staff and membership of Elmcrest Country Club; Roger Barr and the Iowa High School Athletic Association; Cedar Rapids Area Convention and Visitors Bureau; and Xavier coaches, staff, parent volunteers and local business supporters.
