Eric Gjerde has been teaching high school for 17 years.
He is extremely aware that fully-funded schools create a situation where his students can learn and reach their potential. Collective bargaining can assure that he and his fellow educators earn wages competitive with other states.
Family is very important to Gjerde. He would like to be able to take his three daughters to swim outside in clean air and water. Students learn at a young age how to protect their environment. Global warming, deforestation and waste disposal are some concerns of Gjerde's. Issues like these have prompted Eric Gjerde to run for the Iowa House of Representatives.
Gjerde has always supported access to quality health care for all Iowans. Children should not be denied the treatment they need. Medicaid is necessary for some residents and needs to be run much more productively with effective oversight. Gjerde suggests that Iowa's mental-health services are less than adequate. Women are entitled to appropriate health care as well, and the right to make personal decisions.
As a representative of House District 67, Eric Gjerde would fight for a living wage for workers, so that they can in turn add to our economy.
He is the most qualified candidate for this office. Please vote for Eric Gjerde in November.
