Giveaways won’t help county meet needs

I just don't understand what our Linn County supervisors are thinking. First they give the city of Cedar Rapids the land for the amphitheater and then give them $10,000 on top of it.
Why didn't they sell the city the land first, then give them the money? They said the land was worth more than $490,000.
I think that money could have been spent in a better way, like buying more rock for our rural roads or seal coating some of them or maintaining the ones that are already seal-coated.
An article in the paper talked about some of the counties letting some of the seal-coated roads go back to gravel. If they do this in Linn County, I hope the roads or streets the supervisors live on go back to gravel. Then maybe they would think before they give away so much money.
