Gingrich statement was ignorant

Recently, Republican presidential candidate Newt Gingrich made a statement equating Palestinians to terrorists and denying the reality of their displacement after the creation of Israel and subsequent wars over that territory.

This statement is as ignorant and racially prejudiced as if someone painted all Israelis with the brush of a right-wing extremist such as Yigal Amir who assassinated Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin in 1995. Both Palestinian and Israeli people are diverse, from those working to those obstructing peace.

It is scary that a serious candidate for the U.S. presidency would make such undiplomatic and incendiary statements.
