Ghosh is an asset C.R. needs more than mall

Unbelievable! Physicians' Clinic of Iowa fired Dr. Chirantan Ghosh, one of our community's best assets. According to the May 4 Gazette, “We had a difference of opinion,” Ghosh said. Part of that difference of opinion was his reluctance to financially invest in PCI's new medical mall, he said.
The “Support Dr. Chirantan Ghosh” Facebook page is growing by the hour. Stories of the people he has helped are impressive, making it even more disturbing to try to fathom why PCI would boot him out.
It seems it's more about the almighty dollar to PCI than about the patients who come through its doors. Cedar Rapids gave up historic landmarks and our direct Second Avenue access to downtown to accommodate the medical mall project. Must we also lose one of the most valuable assets our community has?
I hope Dr. Ghosh and his wonderful family stay here in Cedar Rapids where we need him. We need Dr. Ghosh more than we need PCI or a medical mall. Maybe Mercy Medical Center's new cancer center (which, by the way, they are building without taxpayer money, on their own land, and without closing down a city street) could partner with Dr. Ghosh to keep him here.
