Generic drug copay came as shock

My wife and I are retired and trying to survive on fixed incomes. You can imagine our shock when the copay for one of our generic prescriptions went from $33 per month to more than $638.
You might be asking the same questions we did. How and why can the drug companies raise the copay this much? A repost from www.breitbart.com states it is due to increase in demand for generic drugs because of the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare) and in an unregulated market, they can charge whatever they want.
The people targeted by the drug companies are senior citizens on Medicare. This affects millions of people who can least afford such high prices. The report from Breitbart continues to say some commonly-used generic drugs have risen as much as 6,000 percent. It is greed, pure and simple. These corporations don't care how many low and fixed-income people they have to gouge to increase their bottom line.
It looks like our legislators who passed the Affordable Care Act have neglected to tell us it is affordable only for the wealthy.
