Gazette column was reckless journalism

David Rasdal's July 7 story about 12-year-old Hunter Koenigsfeld should be a reminder that kids need to wear helmets while bicycling, and certainly while unicycling. The picture of her biking up her concrete driveway with no helmet, and her mother and the writer asking about juggling and playing the guitar while unicycling, is reckless. Her admitting frequent falls should be a hint that a helmet might be useful.
How cute would the story be if she fell on that concrete and had blood pouring out of a cracked skull? Hats off to The Gazette for reckless journalism, and Mom-Of-The-Year Award goes to Connie Koenigsfeld for (not) teaching responsibility to this child.
