Gazette building is best location for C.R. library

There would be many advantages for every library user if the new public library were to be built at the site of The Gazette building at Third Avenue and Fifth Street SE. This would place the library directly across from Cedar Rapids Museum of Art and within walking distance of all the other cultural and commercial offerings of downtown. In one convenient stop, visitors could attend the library, the museum, Theatre Cedar Rapids, the Symphony School, and the Paramount Theatre (eventually), and take advantage of downtown restaurants and businesses.
The library and the museum have been close partners for many years, bringing their resources together for the benefit of the community. The Gazette location would strengthen the natural ties that the library has with us and all of cultural resources downtown.
I'll even propose that there be a skywalk connection between the library and the museum.
